2014 7th Annual Papillion Half Marathon
The spring wouldn’t be complete without the running of the Papillion Half Marathon. I last ran Papillion in 2010 (a great PR year) and finished with a time of 1 hour 47 minutes. I might have been at the peak of my running ability at that time. I tried running it last year, but waited too long to get the registration in and it was too expensive by the time I tried.
This year was picture perfect. The weather was great and there was very little wind. I was able to also run this year with a pastor from my church, Roger Graber. He wanted to complete a half in under 2 hours and I thought I could help him get that done. We finished in 1:55
I paced Roger for the first 9 miles and he paced me for the last 4. Some back and knee pain set in around mile 9 and it was work to get all the way thru it. Roger was a great source of encouragement during the run and we shared lots of good stories along the way. We even picked up a additional pacer at about mile 4 and ran with her for a while. It’s always a great race!
I also attended the Saturday night Spaghetti feed held at Midlands Hospital there in Papillion. After the packet pickup they shuffled us down the hall for the feed. The food was good and there was plenty of it. I have to start dragging more people along to these events. Just too much fun to do it alone.
This finished a very busy spring for me and racing. All the races are posted here and you can find the bibs and times posted at http://theaverageguy.me/category/race-bibs/
