This was a race that almost ended my running, like forever.  I have run this event 4 out of the last 5 years and it is usually a tune up for the Lincoln Half.  I have been having some really great runs in January, February and March, so I thought this one might be a good look at how I would feed a month later in Lincoln.  With running it by myself, I wasn’t worried about pace, so I took it out fairly slow.  It felt good early.

By mile 7 or 8, I was getting that nagging pain in my hips that has been nagging me over the last couple of years.  By mile 9 is was really bad and I limped into the finish.  The ride home was tough and recovery was even tougher.  I took a day or two off, then a week, then a couple weeks and the next thing I knew, it was a week to Lincoln.  More on that in the next post.

Needless to say, this one kind of spooked me this year.  I really thought I was doing well and my times were getting better, not worse.  I couldn’t have been more discouraged.

The good news it, the Lincoln Half went well.  I will talk about that some in the next post.  I just needed to get this one posted before I posted that one.
